i own 2 of these refurbs purchased via the Ecoflow ebay store. And, i use them daily. i paid $699 about 6 months ago. They work very well and i highly recommend the product. Be aware that the "Delta Max" has several variants. not all have the same specs and same battery chemistry. This one (Delta 2 Max, 2048wh, LFP) is the better one and the one i own. Mine have dual solar inputs which is a major reason for my purchase. i will likely buy another when my budget can handle it.

Would something this small be able to function as a short term UPS for a home (30mins to an hour?), yet be removable to use for outdoor entertainment?

Probably not for an entire house, but yes. I have a 1024Wh model, and I used it a few weeks ago when our power went out for a few hours. Charged my phone, made coffee, boiled water for oatmeal (in an electric kettle).

So, unconfuse me. I pay 13.5 cents per kWh delivered. So, if I use this instead, at full capacity, I am saving a bit over a quarter, or $25 per hundred hours that I use it at full capacity or much less at lower draws? But I have to drop $679 for the privilege ? That is a long ROI as well as something else to install and maintain, right ? What am I missing ? Is this mainly for camping, backup or mobile use ?

If you're a costco member you can buy a two pack for $1600 with the 800w alternator charger. Buying them new allowa you to use the 30% irs tax credit which you can't utilize if buying used or refurbished. It comes out cheaper to buy the costco 2 pack and even cheaper after selling the alternator charger for $200-300. I had bought 3 of these packs when they were $1500.

It's mainly to have as a backup or for portable power. For me, in California, I pay 39 and 49 cents per kWh delivered, so I benefit more by charging this with solar panels. I have one of these with 2 extra batteries running power to an ac that runs during the whole day time. I have another with one battery that exclusively runs a fridge and freezer. My main goal was to avoid paying as much of the peak rate from pg&e. I get more than a full discharge per day for one of the units since I have 4x 430 solar panels feeding it power while it powers the air conditioner. It doesn't usually fill the battery completely, but it keeps up with the energy use.

So this is the route I'm looking to go. Currently have just 1 Delta 2 for backup as we live in FL and you know hurricane season and all.

But I'd like to add a window ac unit to our office that just bakes because only a little cool air makes it that far. No amount of running the house ac can keep it cool so I want to add something to bring the temp down during the summer. I'd buy a 420 watt rigid panel locally and a second Ecoflow to power the window unit in the hottest part of the day. All the while serving as extra battery backup in case our power goes out.

I would make sure to try to overpanel because you won't get the full solar power per panel. For example, I have two 405w bifacial solar panels per solar input on my Delta Max 2. Each solar input has a limit of 500w so on a good day I can get 1000w of solar for about an hour or two and about 700-900w throughout the rest of the day if it's nice and sunny. Just assume you'll get about half the output from the panels. My 12k btu window ac uses around 500-1000w depending on the settings and outside weather. I usually have it set to 72-74 and it's often 90-100 here in California right now.

I appreciate that. I'd be adding a smaller btu unit and really only needing it for the hottest part of the day, so it definitely wouldn't be running all day. I'll be sure to play with the numbers. Also looking at different Ecoflow models.

I use mine as a battery backup for a cpap. Overkill? Maybe, but no one likes to wake up to not breathing.

I use a Delta 2 and alternator charger to provide emergency power via my hybrid car. My car has built-in 400w power outlet but not enough for my critical loads, plus it outputs square waves and some fans won't even run. Delta 2 outputs 1600W sine wave, enough to power all my critical loads (not at the same time). Then my car keeps the Delta 2 charged at constant 800W. Being a hybrid, engine goes on and off as needed. After couple of days when gas runs out, disconnect alternator charger from car while Delta 2 continues to power critical loads for about an hour, enough time to go fill up at gas station. We have few gas stations running on natural gas generators around us. If there are surges from the house, the Delta 2 acts as a buffer in between the house and car, protecting car electronics.

This Delta 2 Max can output 2400W and double capacity. I can run more critical loads concurrently and would last couple of hour when my car is disconnected.

not for whole home backup. it will power a microwave... its not going to do a dryer. its not practical for whole home because even something like doing the lights, the lights are generally not just 1 isolated circuit. you could reasonably backup 1 15 or 20A breaker in your home with this.

offgrid and camping and vanlife will benifit the most, but also power outage. smaller systems cost a little more. i have a larger system and in theory my ROI is 3 years, plus i never had to get permits or hire an electrician.

I have one (not refurbished) as a refrigerator UPS and it works well. My fridge only pulls 350 watts continuous, but initial compressor surges well over a thousand watts, however this has handled it fine for over a year now. If the power goes out, it'll run the fridge all day (longer if it's not opened much) depending on how charged your battery is.
To clarify: You can set the maximum battery charge in the phone app to increase battery life. I have it set for 85% max charge most of the time, but sometimes I take it to 99% if there's a big storm coming and power outage is expected.
It sits in the cupboard above my fridge, but needs a bit of ventilation even just sitting there passing AC through. When power goes out and comes back, there may be a few milliseconds of delay (I'm not sure), but it's short enough that the microcontroller in my fridge (not to mention the compressor) doesn't reset.
