If you cannot activate it without the latest firmware. Dont buy it. Im lucky enough to have gotten my p1s with the old firmware. The old FW allows LAN mode. If you update, you printer will be locked into cloud mode. Aka all your prints and files must go through BL cloud servers. Not only is that a data security hazard, if their servers are down, your printer becomes a paperweight. I bought the hardware, I own the hardware, dont put software on there to take what I had paid away.Synology is doing the same thing. I left them too for UNRAID.

Read up on the current bambu labs firmware. YT users are pointing it out too. They tried doing some John Deere crap on customers.

For those unfamiliar with the situation, don't let posts like this scare you away from what is genuinely one of the best printers on the market, especially at this price point.
Yes, the new firmware does introduce tighter integration with Bambu Lab's cloud services, and for users working with proprietary designs or running commercial print farms, that could raise valid concerns. But for the average hobbyist or even consumer, the impact is practically nonexistent.
Most people just want a printer that works reliably out of the box, and the P1S (even with the latest firmware) delivers that in spades. It's fast, high quality, and incredibly easy to use. The privacy concerns are mostly theoretical for the typical user, and unless you're running air-gapped systems for a reason, you're likely already trusting plenty of devices with similar connectivity.
For most, it's a non-issue.

Bambu Lab is about to have a 3rd Anniversary sale starting today the 24th I think starting at 10am until July 15th so you have some time to think about it. If you go directly through them you might get some free gifts too. Great printers, I currently have one of each of them

Youtubers want clicks. Maybe ask real users.

They do not have free shipping for printers. Plus it takes 3-10 days to ship. This would get delivered the next day. Also returning this to bestbuy would be easy as well.

I currently have the A1 and it has been so easy to get into 3D printing because of their whole system and I have had 0 issues. I have been doing research though for a new one and not going to lie the Centauri Carbon from Elegoo for beginners is at a heck of a price with what seems good performance. Longevity might be an issue with the CC from Elegoo though and it's on preorder only.

I want to want this, but current litigation, valid or not, is an issue with this machine. The posture to have the ability to control prints thru cloud is something to be aware of.

You can always put your prints on USB drive and print.

Love their stuff, have since the "beginning", but these concerns are extremely real/valid for all and worth raising awareness for potential new buyers. I'm sincerely hoping they correct course and do right by all of us who have been strong supporters all along.

It's the principal. If we let one company get away others will follow. I won't be buying

Do you know where do they ship from? Wondering if we need to account in for tariffs?
