Here's a wild idea, maybe you should use the oil specs that your owners manual says to use.

Interresting! Wonder if the GM additives would be an issue with Toyota?

Highlander V6 is 0W20

Modern Toyota close tolerance engines are designed to run on thin oil to keep the rings lubed and cool all the time. For years I thought thicker was better for everything.

Primary reason to change your oil every 6 months or 5K plus gas contamination in the oil. A good mechanic can smell gas in the oil during a change.

Is this better than Valvoline restore and protect? It's $30 at Walmart
in my opinion, restore and protect is better. r&p is valvolines upper tier. this is castrols middle tier. which this is still a perfectly fine oil. it will protect just fine, it meets good specs. it just won't clean the same as r&p.

When scheduling an oil change with my local Nissan dealership near me, they were giving off strong vibes they use 5W-20 for ALL vehicles.
If so, seems like a recipe for disaster. Not that they would own up to it if anything bad happens; would probably just blame the customer.

my car is leaking oil and I don't use full synthetic anymore because it leaks out much faster when I do, started using blend and I noticed the difference. someday I'll fix that rear main seal! 😆
Try using the Synthetic "High Mileage" oil of the same grade. Those are supposed to have additives to expand the seals a bit and stop leakage. I started using it at 100k on my Highlander at my mechanic's recommendation.

The higher end "Edge" line is also the same price for 0W-20.

What makes it higher end?
