Considering getting one to put in a puck enclosure to magsafe to the back of my phone.

Issue is, it prevents use of grips which I use frequently. I already have a normal M2 (long type) in an enclosure so idk if i need a third.

If you are going to buy this for a Microsoft Surface, make sure you buy a cheap OEM Microsoft Surface SSD off eBay so that you can swap this into the enclosure. Putting this in a Surface without the enclosure will cause random restarts and instability due to overheating. Surface SSD heatsinks are on the bottom of the drive and transfer heat into the chassis. A bare drive will just overheat.

If you are going to use outside enclosure with this, you could use a different memory then. I think that'd defeat the purpose of changing the memory inside the Surface and upgrade the size of memory.

No, the 2230 SSD fits inside an enclosure. So you buy a 128GB OEM SSD for $10 off eBay and gut it for the enclosure.

Oh you're talking about the thermal sheath. Enclosure I think was misunderstood as an "external" enclosure for USB-C or A

How does the patriot reliability compare? I perceive crucial and Samsung to be top tier but I'm not a subject matter expert by any means. I recently got a patriot microsd and I've been happy with the price and performance, but I don't see the brand very often so just curious.

For those who are considering this for a Microsoft Surface, here's a good example of a Surface SSD that you can buy on eBay and gut for an enclosure.

No, the M4 Mac Mini doesn't use standard M.2 NVMe drives despite looking like them at first glance. Apple opted for a proprietary connector in typical Apple fashion.

However, there are 3rd party drives available that were manufactured specifically for the M4 minis with this proprietary format. They are available all over the place, usually as upgrade kits.
