What is wrong with the batteries? Is it just that they are bigger for the the same capacity or something else?

Quote from CommonSalt :
Suppose I want to use some scrap wood, that's been left out and not very straight, to make a raised planter. Mostly 2x4, some odd 2x6. Would a planer like this be able to shave off enough to mitigate the warping? Not trying to get things perfectly straight, just less obviously bowed in the final product.
Technically, yes....BUT you need a reference point otherwise you are just shaving off wood across the entire bowed surface and will end up with a slightly less bowed board of smaller width. Draw a straight line down the board and a parallel line down the other side of the board and then trim off small sections until you get to your line everywhere (doesn't sound like fun though).

Do you have a table or circular saw? If so, you can create a straightening jig (table saw) or "track saw-like" jig for the circular saw to create a straight side to reference for the cut on the other side of the board. This will be cumbersome with a circular saw on 2x material though.
