The $120 retail price is a joke. Even at $29 this is not a deal. It's 440c, you can get better from ganzo or nearly any chinese manufacturer on amazon for $30 and under in D2

You are comparing very different knives this is a very large blade fixed knife. In fact i do not believe they sell anything even slightly comparable at all to this. I know of no Ganzos that you baton with at this price range.
440C is fine and can be the better choice for a knife like this one. D2 is way more likely to rust and that is not good for a camp knife that may be left out in the elements.. It is also more brittle which is not a good thing in camp style knife.
You may or may not want or like it but their is market for these is there and it seems like a deal and pretty good one form what I can see. Yes ignore the $129 inflated retail but this knife appears to be discontinued and Field Supply has been selling them on Ebay for $60. Used ones have sold for $70 Others are selling in near $80.
I may get bit tin the @ss but do not think so and I am in for five. I can get five Ganzos with the profit. Sometimes it does not matter if you like an item and it can be deall. I wouldn't typically buy a banana taped to canvas for six million but if somebody gives me one for three it is hell of deal. That is not a good comparison as this seems not a bad deal or bad knife as priced.
I often warn people away from some of the other Field Supply inflated retail priced knives but after some looking and research think this one may actually be a good deal.

Hate to tell you but the far east is making many spectacular knives. You may not be aware of the information and do what you will with it. But be aware there are Spydercos from the far east. This may not be top of the line one but is not a bad price for a China knife of this sort.
