I have 47 pairs of ancient pliers from my late father, should I throw them all away and start with one clean pair of new pliers??

Except for all the specialty pliers that I'm not getting rid of.

Wow this comment is exactly why I'm here I have recently inherited all of my grandfather's old tools and measuring equipment. When I go to use a lot of it it is so old I yearn for the comfort of new tools.

a lot of it is Proto brand though.

The struggle is real, you're not alone, there is no right answer.

Yeah I already had plenty of tools when I received my grandfather's. They're all as they always were the last 45 years that me and him have worked together on projects.

I find it extremely difficult to mix my stuff in with his.

Get some good gloves and should be fine to keep using the old tools. Some of the old tools r far superior to the bs we get now adays. The measuring stuff depends on if its still accurate. At the very least put the lot of for sale on eBay instead of trashing it pls

For these? No. For the original version made by Wilde in KC, available in 6.5" and 8"? Probably, depending on which pliers you have.

Fun little secret: if you do want to try Wilde's excellent, US-made pliers, I believe they manufacture most or all of Tekton's US-made pliers.
