The company is likely going into bankruptcy soon. Take that into account when considering buying these.

GoPro has had financial troubles, and if that happens, which part worries you? The cloud storage?

If not using any subscription/online services, then you can continue using the camera offline, and Costco has a famous refund policy.

I think I own the 8. Amazing idea but it used to over heat and drain the battery when I used it for motorcycle riding.

DJI and/or Insta360 cameras are def some other brands to consider that have had many innovations over GoPro's lack of creativity

I'm thinking about getting an action camera with a chin mount for a six week trip on the West Coast where temperatures will mostly be no higher than 80–85°. At what temperature, in your experience or knowledge, does the GoPro 13 tend to shut down? Also how long will a single battery last on an 80° day at full resolution and highest FPS?Thanks :-)

Sometime in September a new version will come out, perhaps with new key features. As the last 2 versions were hardly an improvement. I'd wait and see if the new version will be revolutionary or, maybe, more expensive with the same sensor.

Both the dji and insta360 cams have larger sensors and are much better at low light. DJI msrp for 350 and you can get the insta360 for 350 on sale occasionally.
