Quince has a small carry-on that looks like an Away clone for about $119. It's slightly bigger at 22x14.4x9.1. I have this model and I have measured it with a tape measure. The handles account for that fraction of an inch but they are pliable. In addition, the company has measured the carry on against major domestic carriers and it fits in sizers for American, Delta, United, Southwest and Alaska:

I was a flight attendant for 14 years and they preferred for us to use TravelPro.
If a TravelPro is listed as carry on, it's pretty safe to assume that it will fit in the bins on any US carrier.
This Samsonite has almost exactly the same dimensions as the Away Bigger Carry-On. Here is a video [youtube.com] of how that bag stacks up against different domestic airline requirements.
