FYI, for a direct comparison, the 4GB X10 is currently $219.99 Https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F334SXSC
The wearing of the NAND cells, and FW wear leveling solutions, e.g., are an inherent problem in SSDs, worse going to TLC and QLC. Since NAND is erased/programed only in huge blocks, if you use the drive to near capacity then the performance, i.e., the FW's ability to handle wear leveling, paging, buffering, error corrections etc gets drastically reduced. A cliff in fact. So some consumers might think something is wrong with their drive after only a few month, if they use the drive past a certain percentage of the compacity.
So just from the FW complexity and reliability point of view, if someone says SSDs are less reliable than the much simpler and consistent HDD, I wouldn't know if I should agree, but I certainly wouldn't argue with that.

here's a few:
Completely unreliable

Drive works for a while, then won't get recognized when plugged in. Either won't mount or ejects randomly. Crucial customer service was useless and suggested reformatting in various formats, nothing worked. Same issues over and over. I've only been using it as a 3rd copy backup drive, but I might as well not consider it a backup because it simply does not consistently reliably work. Avoid this drive at all costs. Because of the lack of support or accountability, I'm never buying Crucial again after years of using their gear.
Died within 1 week

Power died within 1 week of using this drive. I know it was a power failure because the LED wouldn't turn on. Tried multiple different cables, plugging into different computers. Lost 12+ hrs of work, learned two lessons: 1) back up projects every few hrs to multiple drives, 2) don't try to save money on storage devices

Bought this drive a couple of months ago to use for photo backups. The drive now spontaneously ejects itself from my iMac. Ridiculous waste of money.

This drive failed after very little use. Neither B&H nor Crucial would give me a refund. Customer service rep at Crucial said that there have been many problems with this batch of drives.

Our company bought several of these drives for audio and video use. The size and speed were the big factors for us. Unfortunately, all of the drives have failed a very short time. Contacting Crucial for warranty service was less than good. Will not buy crucial SSD drives again due to quality and service. Replaced them all with Samsung T7 &9's and very happy with those.
Failed in Less than a Year (But Failed Kindly)

I bought this SSD less than a year ago and it has already failed. I really liked this drive & it's form factor, but that is an outrageous lifespan. I've never had a HDD disk fail sooner than 8 years old and my whole reason for investing in SSD was for better longevity of data storage.
That said, I decided to give it an extra star because instead of failing outright at first, it just became read-only. Which is a life-saver. After backing up all of my data, I will be trying to deal with the warranty process I guess!
DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF

Drive purchased November 2024. Drive corrupted March 2025.
Contacted the manufacturer (Crucial/Micron) and they refuse to issue a refund.
I've used LaCie, Samsung and Seagate for 20+ years without any problems and will continue to do so from now on.

HDDs have mechanical moving parts which will fail - it's only a matter of when - though can last longer when not in constant use, as will most appliances.
