Spectacular headphones even at their original price. You get true planar magnetic sound with impressive detail, wide soundstage and clean instrument separation.

If you're looking to step into audiophile gear w/o overspending, this is one of the best deals out there. I'd highly recommend to get an amp to drive it though.

I've been driving it with Topping L30 & E30 amp/dac combo for the last few years, and I see no reason to upgrade my setup in the near future.

In short, 6XX is comfy, budget-friendly all-rounder, with warm midrange, smooth treble and gentle mid-bass bump, and XS is bold, analytical listener's dream with airy soundstage and a side of damn good bass slam. For overall sound quality I definitely prefer XS, but it's much heavier and bulkier (14oz vs 9oz, I believe), so for daily driving 6XX works better.

I decided to give them a try at this price point. Anybody have an opinion or review of the FiiO K11 1400W DAC? I was thinking of getting that to pair with these headphones. The Q15 ones seem great but maybe a bit out of my price range.

I got mine for $299. Great set of planars. I liked them better than the HE 560 v4. You won't be disappointed.

You won't regret it. As for the pairing, I would have gone with the K11 if I didn't specifically need bluetooth for my use case. Q15 is pricey, I snagged an open box for under 300 and still way more than I expected to pay, but the alternatives just weren't powerful enough and would have wasted the potential of these and maybe future cans too. Bought once, cried once.

These are amazing headphones at the pricepoint, I personally tuned them a little to get that extra bit out of them. I highly recommend getting these headstraps with them as they can be uncomftorable for smaller heads but they sound so good.

How do these compare with Sundara and 660S2?

Bought it nonetheless purely for the oval ear pads. The Sundara is an excellent pair but the round ear pads are rather uncomfortable for big ears.

Hifiman has always intrigued me, but it seems as though there are questions about quality/durability. Does anyone have firsthand experience? thanks

Grabbed a pair. I've been eyeing my first pair of something actually nice to get into this space! I am really nervous after seeing so many fabulous options out there. 🥳

i bought these refurbed about 2 years ago and… i think they are a bit meh. Maybe i just got a worse set somehow since they were refurbs. Sound quality i think they are a bit boring and the comfort isnt great. Also, the build quality is something i notice all the time, it feels so cheap. I have sub-100 dollar headphones with better build. I still use them for gaming, but I prefer other things for music.
What are you using for an amp with these?

The HiFiMan EF400 R2R is my go to DAC/Amp for planar HPs, smooth sound and lots of power for the most difficult to drive HPs. I use the balance output for my XS.
It to has a special open box price of $309:

Would these be a noticeable improvement over the Deva Pro?

Why do you guys use amp for headphones? Make it louder? Isn't that bad for hearing?

They are after all 18 ohm headphones.

I went ahead and got the Ananda Stealth's instead. Now that the XS are on sale, and likely the same headphones....Well I have no regrets. 😆
