I own the 256GB versions of both the Samsung drive (that is the subject of this deal) and Sandisk drive you've linked to. I use both of them primarily to transfer home photos and videos from my phone (iPhone 15) to my desktop computer.
*I find read/write performance to be similar - but that's just based on a non-technical eye test.
*I find the Samsung drive more reliable (sometimes my phone doesn't sense the Sandisk drive at all). The Sandisk drive also gets hot during use.
*I like the flexibility that the Sandisk drive offers, with both USB-A and USB-C connectors. Useful when I'm transferring files to older computers without USB-C ports.

About time they dropped a 512. Were they waiting until 512GB ssds dropped in popularity to finally release these?

These in 256GB are probably the best SSDs I've ever owned. Love them.

Just wondering: why not just use a USB cable if you're just transferring to computer?

If you need to transfer photos and videos only from phone then definitely check out Photosync. Pretty good app

because if you want fast transfer speeds most people won't know to use a usb 3 cable and also a usb 3 port. Also these flash drives are 3.2 so faster than pc transfer unless you have a moderate computer

this is more like flash driver. not ssd or hard drive type. so i wouldn't recommend it.
