Freezing temps? Plastic gets brittle and can snap
Parts get hot? Plastic softens and stretches (loses tension)
Parts get really hot? Plastic burns
Parts in sun? UV rays weaken plastic which breaks in one season
Plastic sheds microplastic particles and hormone mimetics which are bad for nature
Plastic is made from petroleum products which we need to minimize
Plastic zips are only partially recyclable, at best, while scrap steel is easily recycled
Steel is better on every count except two:

Plastic less likely to cut fragile materials
Plastic is cheaper

Thanks! Would regular flush cutter work since these are stainless? I've been using cheapo HF flush cutter [harborfreight.com] to cut plastic zip ties to prevent slicing my skin

I was meaning to say don't jump on this minor deal unless you've been needing them. But apparently there's even better prices you've shared.

I used a couple of these to temporarily re-secure my heat shield to my catalytic converter and it worked really well.

I use these to strap the rubber boot of a CV axle. Much better than the plastic strap that the cheap CV axles put on at the factory.

Depending on the thickness, I doubt a small flush cutter like that would do the trick. May need a bigger one with more leverage or something like tin snips / aviation shears to be safe.
