That was just for appliances. This is for the entire Home Depot site. You log into AAFESYou get your everyday 10% HD discountWhen you're ready to checkout, it sends you back to AAFES to pay. The big factor (for others that weren't aware of the appliances deal) is that it is then also tax free (beats just getting 10% off/covering tax)
Interesting, so you pay through AAFES and can still pick up at local HD or get shipped from HD? That is a nice benefit if correct.

Payment happens through AAFES. It's clunky but works.

They announced the expansion of the partnership a couple of months ago. I used it a couple of times to order some new tools. It's a nice benefit on top of the 10% that HD has been giving for a while now.

Ya, this is new. Used to be large appliances only. Vastly expanded selections. Really great update.

Correct. Now many items in addition to appliances are tax free.

This "deal" has been around for years 😂. Nothing to see here.
Not exactly. I had planned on buying two new appliances through HD using their military/veteran discount, but instead of just 10% off but paying both tax and delivery, I went through the shopmyexchange.com Home Depot page, and got 10% and a few bucks more off, no tax, free delivery. Saved almost $200 that way.

I guess if two years is a while….."The Home Depot launched its partnerships with both the Army & Air Force Exchange Service and the Navy Exchange in 2023 and has around 90 major appliance showrooms located in military exchange stores across the U.S."SOURCE: https://corporate.homedepot.com/n...nationwide

Just something to note; the normal HD 10% discount is capped at $400 max annually. But the partnership says that items purchased through the exchange are already discounted by 10%, (plus no tax) so highly unlikely that the cap applies to exchange purchases. Not really sure though.

Don't worry about the cap. When you check out, instead of showing them the QR code on your phone for the discount, just show them your ID. It works every time and they don't track your total spend.

It's been around for a little while. Labor day sales were really good compared to if you didn't go through AAFES. However, the only negligible downside is it will take longer to get to you then if you went directly through HD (usually next day vs up to a week, so far).

Are the states doing anything about this?
Virginia wants me to pay tax on EVERYTHING I buy.

But they don't ship to APO/FPO so this is worthless for hundreds of thousands of people at OCONUS locations.

I've purchased several items in the past couple months the extra sales tax savings for me is another 7% on top of the 10% Mil/Vet, so more than worthwhile on bigger ticket items giving 17% off.
