Great idea but reviews say that the locking mechanism is flimsy and break easily.

We use this for camping. The first one we had lasted a couple of years, and couldn't find anything else like this that looked like it would work better so we bought a second one. Buying a third now for a backup. I can't say it's the sturdiest thing in the world, but if you're careful with it you can probably get a few years of semi-regular use out of it (we camp a lot--about 140 days this year), and it's just about perfect if you want a somewhat full size broom that folds up relatively compactly.

um so does this folding mechanism appear to save space in your eyes? cause i don't recognize any noticeable improvement over a standard broom...

Saving space isn't the point. The advantage of the design is that you can shorten the handle to dust furniture. And you can angle the head to sweep under furniture.

i didnt realize it had a telescoping handle, so that's part of my problem.
oh i see, in that case i guess it might be useful and innovative. i guess i didn't think about those things because i prefer to dust with a damp cloth with pledge or something. but i see what you mean.

It certainly can be. This fits in our camping gear a heck of a lot easier than an actual full size broom would. We collapse it down and it goes in our bins no problem.
