Re DEET, you should try Picardin. Newer and better than DEET. I like the Boogie brand (sold in tubes at Amazon). 20% Picardin. No smell. No residue. Works like a charm.

I recommend mosquito dunks. Throw a few in some buckets and let fill up with rain water. Replace/repeat monthly

if you are staying in one area then use fans - they arent strong enough fliers to overcome a fan.

My wife got one of these on clearance. I mock these things usually because mosquitoes don't like me, but that changed last night! Turned this thing on and I was amazed it worked so well.

I considered this, did some research, added up the dollar and time costs of cartridges, pads, diy refill kits, cheaper pads from china, etc., and decided to go with traditional low tech mosquito repellent coils that burn very cheaply for many hours inside secure metal portable, tippable, hangable holders. But thanks OP for posting this deal to get us thinking about mosquito management!

I bought one of these from Walmart when they had a deal last July. Just tried to use it the other day and it would not turn on. It kept making the clicking sound and I would see a small blue "flame spark" but it never turned on to stay on. I even tried another fuel cartridge since I had bought refills and it still did not work.

In researching this, it seems to say their fuel powered products can have trouble working at over 4,000 ft. in elevation. They sell this at the local Lowe's and we're at over 5,00 ft. in elevation in my city, why would they sell this in local stores at this elevation?

I'm not sure if that's the issue. I guess I'll contact them and see if there is something else that might be the issue, maybe bad starter?

Anyone use these at an elevation over 4,000 ft. and had them work?

The best mosquito repellent is having a mosquito magnet friend. They get all the bites, you get none.
