It's because monitors can use the extra real-estate while as a TV unless you're watching 21:9 movies this would have black bars most of the time. That being said I have this exact monitor and love watching movies on it with headphones on sitting right in front of it. It's very immersing but solo experience.

800R is the radius of the screen. It is a VERY curved screen. Personally, if they made this a higher radius it would be such an amazing monitor, I don't know who asked for this kind of curve because it's such a waste.

I got it this year and I love the curve. I have a very wide standing desk and a total of 3 monitors, where I place this 800R curve one in the middle and two 24" stacked on one another. Makes for a lovely setup for gaming and work. Wish I paid this price instead though
