Isn't this a great deal ($11.4/tb)?

Is the seller really Seagate? Just joined in April 2025 and has fewer feedback ratings than a hillbilly has teeth? Seems too good to be true...

No. It's $11.43/TB.

I feel like there have been a few refurbs posted about this price. So for those who would rather have a new drive this seems like a good deal.

Title says X18 14tb, but the pictures shows X16 14tb. Typo?

These are enterprise drives rigth?

EDIT: Bought 1 - hopefully it is legit

The store has the 'Direct from Brand' certification from eBay.

from that page: Seagate's factory-recertified drives can now be purchased directly through www.ebay.com/str/stxrecerthdd.
not the same storefront

Indeed, and the announcement was made just over a year ago.

Also, there was a question as to whether or not the X18 in the listing title was a typo since the image shows X16. The X16 is old so it's feasible this is new old stock they're clearing out. Seagate's own storefront has the X18 with the same model number (ST14000NM000J) listed at discount for $279.99, though.

I see three possibilities here:
1. It is Seagate and they are having a fun eBay-only promotion to get their eBay storefront kickstarted
2. It is Seagate and whomever they have running their eBay storefront doesn't realize they've undercut their own sale price by $120.
3. It is not Seagate.

It is the new one with the new model number. X16 in the picture is probably just a mistake. If you scroll down, eBay has marked the store as "Direct from Seagate". eBay wouldn't have put that certificate if the store wasn't legit. Plus, when you receive the HDD, run the serial number on Seagate's website, and if it doesn't show up, just file a claim on eBay and get a refund. I don't see any risk here.
I just ordered one myself. I don't think it was at this price in a long time if ever. I had ordered the exact same one from Newegg a few months ago for $220 after $10 off and I thought it was a good deal. And it's the exact same model number.

For those who don't know, these are enterprise grade drives and they come with a 5 year warranty unlike consumer grade ones which come with 3 years.

They are packed with helium inside and meant to run reliably for a very long time.

These are what the big data centers use.

Again, I bought one myself, because it's a big discount. Hope it helps clarify it for others.

For reference this is the one I bought from Newegg that I mentioned above, it matches the exact model number and it IS X18. As soon as I received it from Newegg(Sold and Shipped by Newegg), I ran the serial number on Seagate's website and it was legit.

That store doesn't have the 'Direct from Brand' marking from eBay and the about page doesn't call itself the official Seagate store, as the one in this SD does. But it does appear to be legitimate, too, very strange stuff.
