"Note: This order is for an license which may be limited in scope and duration. " in small print.
Now they even tell you they might take it away after you pay for it.
Please let us know when you can get any of these movies on 4K UHD disc for $5 or less. These licenses are basically the cost of a rental. More than worthwhile if you watch a given movie twice, especially with friends or family. Life is too short to worry about unlikely outcomes.

Yep. I have been eyeing the complete set but decided to take the lower cost route here. 4k digital is more convenient and the price is better. Plus it isn't like physical media is indestructible. Disks skip, especially triple layer movies.

To be fair you don't actually get a true "4K UHD" performance from this either, especially on the audio side.
The benefit of having a good player is BD disc can often provide just as good a picture as streaming & easily way better audio.
Rarely have disc issue, last for a very long time, actually own it & I don't need monthly internet to watch them.
BTW IF I bother to upgrade to 4K UHD, I usually get them for $8 or so new or used.

Interesting point about not paying for monthly internet. That is certainly a choice.
And that mental calculus did not factor in square footage that a thousand or so new or used discs and shelving occupy in a home or apartment.
Imagine if our discs were paying rent! Maybe there is a way to claim them as a deduction on my taxes? That would be an epic slick deal.
Also, I have found it difficult to plug in and mount my Dolby vision speakers, amps, cords, and battery banks in cars and planes. It is at those moments I regret not spending half as much or less per disc to buy an extremely risky, revokable streaming license.

You buy all digital 4K UHD movies that are available for $3-5 each!?
Luckily I don't & the BD movies I have are already better than these digital 4K UHD ones, no need to buy anything!
You pay $3-5 each for 4K UHD to watch & listen in cars & planes why!? 🤔

Luckily we don't live in the world of media format Highlander.

Honestly, why not? You go on a plane, download a few movies to your device, and are set.
I totally get that the disc are better. One day, I might be able to have a physical collection again, but this is basically the equivalent of the bargain dvd bin at the old rental stores.
I built my original dvd collection that way, and I am building a digital one this way.
I also think the difference in quality can't be that wildly different because the 4k movies look amazing on my TV even when digital.

Not sure what your main points are, but most of us don't care regardless if it's digital or physical media. They all have advantages and disadvantages, so just pick whatever works for you.
I use both. For movies I really enjoy, I prefer the disc that I then use to rip. You can either get rid of the disc, store it in a flat pack case (throw away the case) for storage or let it take up space. For streaming, I'm taking my chance the company will be there and that convenient access trumps having it forever even after my death.
If we truly care about "forever" ownership, we should just lobby our politicians to create laws that favor that. Any takers?

A few factors play a role on PQ difference but disc is better.
Watching a movie has another half, sound.
On that aspect this is a vast drop in quality, you are kinda getting bargain dvd bin performance.
You definitely are not getting anything close to 4K UHD performance that's for sure!
Yes, I do. I regularly find UHD titles for less than $5 and studio bundles (not offered on discs) drops the price to $1 or less.
If you are implying a 1080 SDR disc is superior to a 4K HDR stream, then I have a fortress of solitude to sell you...for $2!
Superior no, comparable very often.
A good player can upscale very well especially with a good transfer.
If you have the BD disc already, zero cost and already better especially on the audio side.
That 1080 SDR disc is hands down/no contest better than that digital UHD!
I still don't understand how UHD is advantageous in a car or plane? 🤔

You don't understand how UHD on a car or plane is better than nothing on a car or plane and at the same time argue that HD SDR is better than 4K HDR... I'm not here to convince you, but the fortress price just went up to $3!

I am 100% getting 4k uhd performance. The differences between disc and streaming are minimal to the normal eye.
Movies are $5. I got Criterion Seven Samurai 4k UHD for $5. You'll never get that deal out there.
