I have a kid in college and would love to take advantage of this, but we utilize the Family Sharing (often playing a game in 2 or 3 different locations simultaneously) among our accounts that it wouldn't work for us. Info for those of you in a similar position:

Student Plan: One user, one stream, no family sharing.
Standard Plan: Unlimited streams at home, can be shared with up to 5 family members in a Google family group.

My son is at school, and was about to pull the trigger...I live in LA.

Then I remembered I'm a Jets fan and suffering through actually watching 17 games....well, I don't think I can take any more disappointment.

$129 saved!

It's dumb, it's based on year after prior purchase. I got it last year on 7/26 so can't do the deal until 7/26. Says I already took advantage of the deal.

You can watch games that don't involve the Jets.

Yes, I could.

But why?

I don't care who wins or loses, and I've seen enough meaningless football in my life.

Take advantage of this every year. Super simple. Dont need .edu address, just name and birthday of an active student and the school which they are enrolled.
if this is your first year, make sure you are logged into your youtube account first, then signup for this using the same email account tied to your yt account.
last time I did this it auto-verified the following year so I only had to make payment.

Son is in college. Can I log into the Youtube account that's linked to my own personal email to sign-up or do I have to create a Youtube account that is linked to his .edu address? Just want to make sure I do this right. Thanks.

I remember a comedian or economics professor having a story that goes something like...
My wife comes home from the store, she spent over $200.
She tells him "honey look how much I saved with coupons and discounts!"
He responds "Honey you didn't save anything, you just spent over $200"

It stuck with me ever since I heard it.

Its a reminder for me that if money comes out of my pocket. I'm not saving money at all.

FYI - they black out games that are available on local TV so this is not very useful if for instance your wife says it's a family day and you have to go to your in-laws and listen to their weird uncle yell about politics 😐
