This model actually lives up to the hype, and at $69 exceeds it. Pair it with a $100 amplifier, add some equalization (Qudelix 5k has both) and you're done.

a lot of those prices never matched the quality of the products...esp. the he-r9
The HE400se is actually a good value for what you get and sounds pretty good, as long as you can pair it with a warm dac/amp that provides enough power. These will not sound their best without enough juice. I did 3d print some new grilles to open up the sound, which is great if you can do that. I much prefer the headband on my Arya Stealths though, as they are much more comfortable. These are a good entry level planar though, especially if you mod them, which is fun. Hifiman's MSRPs are a bit high, but even at full price these are a great value, IMHO.

I don't know anything about headphones (i have Cloud Mix 1). I just want to buy new ones for music/entertainment and gaming. Is there any deal right now that is worth it? For example, is there anything on sale from HIFIMAN that is good/exceptional for the price? And are there any other good sales? Thanks a bunch, I would be very thankful if you would answer all that

I do the same thing. When I see a really good deal I just buy it. Then I pull out the rice maker and eat veggies, meat, and rice untill it's at least half paid off (or paid off twice) All while my health is improving.
I don't see the money as a concern here . The real concerns I know of is I've heard people say these headphones fall apart after a while. The other concern is you need to look at the impedance of the headphones. If the impedance is high you'll need a headphone amp to go with it. So make sure the impedance is something that can be driven by a phone or whatever you're using.

This brand (HIFIMAN) is known for exactly two things: (1) punching WAY above their weight class for audio quality and (2) really really bad quality e.g. headbands breaking and having to buy an entire new set of headphones instead of just getting a replacement part.
If you baby your headphones, HIFIMAN is probably great.
If you throw your stuff around or put it in a backpack, go somewhere else.
Even if you baby your headphones, HIFIMAN can still be a problem.
But you'll pay 10x the money to get a better built headphone (e.g. Dan Clark Audio) with comparable audio quality.
HE400se: Best for detail-oriented listening, critical music analysis, and genres where clarity and separation are important. Needs a good amp for best results.
ANANDA Stealth with a good dac/amp sounds incredible. The only problem is I didn't believe some of the reviews about the headphones suddenly dying. I know most people do not know how to treat equipment properly. I know for my use case it would be used at a desk, handled with care, and put in a case. But one day I plugged in the headphones and one of the earphones stopped producing sound. The magnet is pretty incredible. It is paper thin, but maybe that is what causes it to be prone to breaking? Luckily I only spent like $210 on my ANANDA Stealth headphones. Some people spent multiple times that amount and got the same pair of dead headphones.
Got these on the last referb discount before thanksgiving.
I love them. They sound so natural and detailed.
They are paired with a Yamaha R300 on my work desk, and I'll often pick them over the speakers I have set up in the room.

How do these compare to Philips SHP9500 headphones?
I own both and Ratings has a pretty good write up and comparison. Most Hifiman headphones have a similar sound signature and require equalization as well as additional amplification to bring out the best in them.
