Just in time for Amazon Prime Day. Would be interesting to see what Amazon matches.

target in general hasnt been doing well across the board, so it's not surprising they cut this off - that and i'm sure after years of abuse, they decided to close the loophole

If you are referring to the buy 3 and cancel and/or return 1 or 2 items tactic to get a pro-rated discount on the remaining item(s), well that is by design. Target could actually make one of the items literally free in your order and reflected that way on your receipt but they purposely don't do it that way. One reason being that if you wanted to return one item you wouldn't have to return all of them due to the nature of the promotion. So to me if it's by design then that's not abuse.

edit: also, there's nothing stopping anyone from employing the same tactic on non-gaming items and yet a B2G1 free is still being promoted on those so I really don't think it has anything to do with the above. To me they just stopped doing a B2G1 free on video games and haven't done it in some time now for other reasons.

believe it or not, target used to do that before Covid but something changed. we've been target shoppers for 20 years or so and i recall seeing the item zero'd out

that said, just because it's by design doesn't mean it cant be abused - take self checkout for instance. for those who choose to not ring up items and get away with it, would you consider it not theft because that's by design? not trying to argue but cant paint the "design" brush across everything and wash our hands clean so to speak

how they coded it was beneficial in your stated cases, but human nature seeks to take a mile when given an inch.

hope you have a great weekend shadow
