I have the dt251 and being able to cook two levels of stuff is pretty great. I live in nyc and use this full time instead of the stove. It depends on your needs and space but I'd assume the xl would be better for a larger group

my brother bought the flip and seems to like it but it looks weird flipped up. I'm not sure what the advantage is since you have to wait for it to cool and then move it up and have to stare at a piece of sheet metal. I'd rather have more space taken up and more cooking space and you just have "this is the appliance" instead of "this is the back of the appliance" I guess maybe the flip is good if counterspace is at a premium or you don't cook much. I live in NYC and I have no problem letting the XL take up counterspace with how useful it is and how often I use it.

Amazing oven. Bought it when I moved into my first apartment back in 2021 to avoid the crappy landlord range without convention.

Use the air fryer, bake function, toast several times a week and it has held up beautifully! Preheat is 1-2 min max. Make sure you don't unplug it after use because there is a small fan that cools down the oven for 30 min. Most reviews of premature failure are due to not following this rule. I keep mine plugged in all the time

The only cons I'd say is the interior is some sort of aluminum or steel that doesn't have an enamel so hard to clean if something splatters. Also bake time can be a little more than in a traditional oven.

I don't know how you guys deal with a convection oven. Guess I'm old school. But how do you remember the baking time for ALL the things you put in there? I use my toaster oven for frozen stuff and bought the Ninja dual oven because it has a regular bake cycle on the top, but it really doesn't have the necessary height for most things.

I like their products, but we have not had good luck with Ninja lasting. We bought their Ninja Foodi 10-in-1 XL Pro Air Fry Oven in late 2022 and it died earlier this month. The fan still spins but only very slowly, no noise. Did some troubleshooting and it wasn't anything obvious like a bad fan etc. likely a controller board. We also bought a DualBrew coffee machine from them about the same time and in it's second year the display illumination for half of the display went dark, so you can't see what buttons are there to press. Both were out of their 1 year warranty by the time they failed.
When it worked, it worked quite well, if there was any complaint we had about it, it was that compared to our previous toaster oven (Breveille) it took much longer to cook things on the same setting as our oven, where the Breveille was a bit longer but not a lot longer. I think Ninja makes such a big deal about how fast their oven pre-heats, that the unit is probably not up to thermal equilibrium yet. It's crazy loud on air fry though, sounds like a jet engine in your kitchen That's how we knew ours was slowly dying, one day it no longer sounded like a jet when we turned it on.
