This looks like a great deal, I paid $240 at target 7 months ago and tho it wasn't the cheapest it has served my family well especially during winter and newborn stage where we needed boiled water. Now it's serving us well when we're sick of for cooking ramen or faster access to boiling water for pots.

For smaller households, the 4L version is marked down to $175. I've had it for 8 years and it's still going strong. https://a.co/d/b2Ex7GX

These are one of those lifestyle items that once you have it, you can't imagine not having it. Just a note, if you use hard tap water you will need to clean it frequently. We've got an undersink RO system and never have to clean ours. I performatively did it a few weeks ago after like a year, but it was completely unnecessary.

The previous VE model doesn't use that translucent material (maybe nylon?) in the lid and was more susceptible to plastic degradation. Hope this newer model is different.

What the heck? I have had the same $15 electric kettle for a decade, still looks and works great. I can't imagine how this could be 15 times better.

Does the water in your kettle stay hot indefinitely?

This is the problem I've read with pretty much all of these units. The lids aren't designed to last more than a year or two. The plastic housing where the steam is released eventually becomes brittle causing plastic to leach into the water. I'm still using an old Bonavita water boiler and a vacuum sealed thermos to store the water after boiling to avoid the plastic issue, but every time these deals show up I wonder if it is worth that risk for the overall convenience they offer

I have this same model for few years and didn't have plastic smell, it is true that cheaper and older model plastic ring didn't last very long, but this model is pretty good and VE technology help keep water warm and use less energy. Sure this is expensive and is not for everyone.
