Rechargeable AA batteries are more versatile and multi-purpose. Those might be a better option if you already have a AA battery charger. But this deal is ok if you want dedicated rechargeable Xbox controller batteries. This is essentially 8 AA batteries with a charger for $16. Each battery is only 1,400mAh, but it's LiPo and has higher voltage (3.67V) compared to Amazon Basics AA rechargeable batteries 2000mAh and 1.2V.

For reference, Amazon Basics 8-pack of AA 2000mAh 1.2V rechargeable batteries is $8.

You can get an 8 AA/AAA battery charger for $10.

The Amazon basics AA batteries has 1000 charge cycles rating vs the lithium batteries with 3000 charge cycles rating. The LiPo batteries have about a 7% greater capacity which means more playing time (4800mWh vs 5180mWh).

Really up to you to decide which you would use more.

Any downside to using off brand/no name batteries like this with your Xbox? Most of the 41 reviews got the product for free to review

I'm not sure to your question but I'm suspect about the deal because, as you pointed out, 90 plus percent of the reviews are Vine reviews. It makes me question whether these batteries will hold a charge or last as long as they are advertised.
Does anyone have one of these chargers and batteries?

The best part about Xbox controllers is that you can easily find 2600-2800mAh batteries for them. 1400mAh will just end up with battery life almost as pathetic as a Dual Sense.

I meant like potential damage or wear to the lifespan of the controller?

been using similar battery packs for 5+ years on some controllers and the controllers still work well, I've actually had to replace the joysticks from wear. Still have the same batteries too. I'm not sure about these exact ones, so I can't say for certain, but I have used more than two type of off brand batteries. I will say these don't hold as much power. So I'd recommend something that'll last longer.

Seems like a fair deal if somebody has kids and doesn't trust that they will put regular rechargeable AA batteries back on the charger consistently. This way you can have a dedicated charger and battery packs near the Xbox.
