These are well-built, light, small, use standard blades, and installing blades is fast & easy. I absolutely recommend this utility knife.

While there are three different versions of Milwaukee FASTBACK (this, screwdriver/bottle-opener, or blade storage), this version without the gimmicks/extra bulk is actually the best. It is more comfortable in the hand.

If I were forced to say anything negative: The blade it ships with is meh. Don't buy Milwaukee's blades. I'd suggest a box of LENOX Carbon Steel edge Utility Blades, they're like $23 for 50x. While Milwaukee's blades are cheaper, constantly changing a dull blade is also a cost/annoyance.

We cut a lot in my line of work and these are by far my favorite. The wheel lock is huge so the blade doesn't slip out of place from pressure while cutting.

Changing the blade is easy but no depth cutting adjustment

Olfa Knives. these are a bit bigger than standard but it's just the link that I found, there're others. https://a.co/d/0KfJOPN

I like Olfa knives very much but we should mention that blades are proprietary and more expensive than standard universal fit utility knife blades. You may find that local hardware store may not have the blade you need when you need it.

Also the straight snap off blade Olfa you linked is not a good alternative to the true utility with a handle that offers good grip. The linked Olfa is more what would be called a boxcutter.

Olfa does offer one more comparable to these but one cost near $20 and you are still back to the blades being more expensive and less readily available

The pack in the deal is much better value for the average person. I have multiple Oflas and use them but they are more the specialty or craft tool and my standard utility knives are the ones I am using the majority of the time.

These are great knives and depth adjustment is not really needed.

Every depth adjusting knife have tried has failed unless it is of the style without quick blade change..They have some style of push button that releases the blade but every one I tried had the blades pull out under heavy load. I've tried many knives over about fifty years but have settled on the Milwaukee design as the ergonomic and ease of opening are great and the quick change blade lock has not failed on me as of yet

I was giving my experience with most hand held "box cutters" utility knives and gave my bid to the one I use that is depth adjustable like one user inquired about. The blades are not proprierary like you mentioned. They are sold a dime a dozen at every hardware store and general goods store. They're standard 18mm or the chunky 25mm (which are a little harder to find but still not difficult).

I love them and I am with you in general. You hardly know one is in your pocket yet it can take great abuse and the ergonomics are great. That being said there is something to be said for like the model that holds some extra blades. When I am doing drywall or something that wears blades quick I grab the one that has blade compartment even though it is bigger

I thought it important to note the downsides of boxcutters as well. This deal is not for a boxcutter it is for a utility knife.

You kind of compared apples to oranges and I thought some clarity and more detail was needed to help anyone considering it all. Utility knives and box cutters are two different tools. We are in deal for a utility knife I assumed that people asking questions are asking about a similar product.

You didn't offer experience you offered your preference for particular feature in a different particular tool. You failed to inform that tool might also have negatives and downsides depending on your use case and preference.

I will say that after 45 in the trades my experience has showed me the utility knife to be the much more versatile and reached for tool. I probably grab a utility knife about 99.9% of the time.

You are correct the blades are not really propriety but far less known, harder to find and more expensive.

I use box cutters but they are more the specialty. I also offered my thought to a person that I thought was looking for a utility knife and might be new to them.
