Thank you for posting. Shopping for a budget gaming laptop. Is this one worth the slight premium over this Acer Nitro V posted recently? Thank you for any help!

So personally I think so because new with in person returns, the Victus has shockingly good build quality at this price point (I messed with and flexed them in store recently. On par with Lenovo Legion LOQS, only thing better in the price range is the ASUS stuff). Overall they are REALLY similar, but having not touched a Acer Nitro in store I would get the Victus. I DID mess with the much more premium Acer Helios Predator and it's build quality was complete garbage. Like "scared I was going to break the screen in Microcenter" trash.

Website says it has only 120 watt AC adapter. If true that suggests a lower watt RTX 4050. Other Victus RTX 4050 laptops usually have 200 watt AC adapters. For comparison my similar Victus with RTX 4050 and 8645HS uses about 100 to 120 watts gaming and came with 200 watt AC adapter. 120 watt AC adapter suggests you will not get full performance.

Dr's spec copy and paste does not look correct the processor should be a 8 core not a 6 so thats the only real difference between the two. If you think having an 8 core which in reality probably wont offer a huge boost in single application is worth spending another $100 than go for it. Also the refurbished comes with a 2 year warranty on top of it, compared to a 1 year so your getting some peace of mind for a year longer too.

As the other poster mentioned the only other factor would be build quality, if you like one more over the other than it might be enough to sway your purchase.

Thank you for this. The 2 year warranty is a benefit to the Acer.

I bought the lesser version of this from MC a few months ago for 500. Added 32GB ram and it has been a great work computer for my wife. The only thing I didn't like was it ony has one SSD port inside. There is a marked spot for a second one, but no connector. I don't know if this one has a second connector.

Those are totally different use cases I would think. This is a full size 15 inch gaming laptop. So weighs a good bit, worse battery life etc.

As for comparing it in it's class, pretty hard to imagine a better gaming laptop at this price point. Can do a LOT better at the 1k line, but that's a lot more money to.

HP victus is most stable laptop comparing to Asus and lenovo. I use it for automatic trading with some ai algorithm. I tried two asus and one lenoo. They all either crashed or restart ed after a few days run. It casued me to lose the money that could buy tens of them. Victus could run a couple of months without any issue.
