FYI this contains avobenzone which the NPS has said to avoid if you are using in the ocean, since it can harm coral reef

"Blends clear on all skin tones". Yeah no sh*t, it's a chemical sunscreen.

This has the tendency to pill if you use it with other products. Otherwise it's a solid choice for a sunscreen without a white cast on dark skin.

Mineral sunscreens are what people are generally referring to when they talk about non-chemical sunscreen.

❌ Problematic Ingredients to Avoid in Repeated Use:
Homosalate – endocrine disruptor, bioaccumulative

Octocrylene – breaks into benzophenone, linked to cancer

Ethylhexyl Methoxycrylene – suspected hormonal effects

SD Alcohol 40-B – harsh on skin barrier

Disodium EDTA – penetration enhancer, environmental toxicity

⚠️ Concerning But Less Severe:
Avobenzone (needs stabilizers, potential irritant)

Butyloctyl Salicylate (newer, irritation risk)

Hydroxyacetophenone (not well studied)

I used to use this brand. Stopped after EWG rated them as a Moderate Hazard: https://www.ewg.org/sunscreen/abo..._-_SPF_50/
I've been using Trader Joe's Mineral facial sunscreen, on my exposed arms. I wish they would create a larger version of it though.

You would have to dump literal tons of these chemicals directly onto coral reef to have any effect. The study that showed this used obscene concentrations of chemicals in a very small environment to show coral damage.
To extrapolate the tiny concentrations of sunscreen onto the immense volume of water in the ocean and assert that it could cause damage is absurd.

But Karen tweeted a TikTok about it so I guess that's what people listen to

This is super greasy. The Trader Joe's clear gel sunscreen feels way better imo
