Yes, we get it 8 GB is not enough for some people. But obviously if you are looking at spending 50+% more than this on a 5070 ti, you aren't even in the market for this. For people in this price range looking for a gaming laptop this is a good deal. It doesn't become a bad deal because they could get something better at +50-100%.

Other way around. Thunderbolt is proprietary to Intel. Generic USB4 is what's used on AMD machines. USB4 is Thunderbolt compatible though and is essentially equivalent to TB4.

Yeah, that's what I look for too. With TB5 it's finally fast enough to almost fully utilize an eGPU.

Yeah 300 nits is the only thing preventing this from being the best laptop deal in at least a week or two in this class. It's still fantastic IF you don't care about the panel brightness.

Not really fantastic, coz of 5060 also, just 8gb vram. 5x series starts from 5070ti coz of memory.

Take away the Alien head and it looks like a no-name generic laptop. The classic Alienware design is gone. Too bland for my tastes. They got rid of most of the RGB stuff, too. Even the keyboard is just boring white.

So, 20 years ago I was fairly tech savvy, so I can speak the lingo. My son has been saving money to buy a gaming PC. Many of the towers have the Ryzen 5 and the 4060 video card. How would this compare?

Thunderbolt afaik is proprietary to AMD. Also this laptop is a Intel Core 7 240H. No idea why it doesn't have Tbolt.

This would be a no-brainer if it had Thunderbolt or USB4. Otherwise it's no better than the recent HP deals, besides the slightly better build quality.

Intel 2x0H is trash. 2x5H(X) way better for gaming laptop.

Yeah that's what I meant to say as the person I was responding to said "AMD needs Thunderbolt" when that isn't a thing they can do and this isn't a AMD machine. lol.

Good to know about TB4/USB4 thanks!

It has a 5060 in it, the 240 vs 255 isn't going to be very relevant for most games given the GPU will be the bottleneck.
