I bought 3 of these. 1 had a broken hose bracket, another was missing accessories and stuff to install it, another one failed 4 days before the 90 day return period. Returned all 3 of them. Like the other poster said, it's Russian roulette.

I bought it over 3 months ago for $249. I know it's like Russian roulette when you get the box. in my case it the AC looks brand new never been used+with all the accessories. it's been running in the room above the garage since last month non-stop. you can buy the extended warranty 3 or 5 years for $35 I think.

How do you get the extended warranty and who is it underwritten by?

here is a whole discussion about this AC couple of months ago(maybe you want to check page page 7 over 8 on your app).https://slickdeals.net/f/18329725-refurb-12-000-btu-midea-duo-dual-hose-portable-air-conditioner-250-free-shippingI think the insurance sold by Walmart but it's underwritten by Allstate.check this link too just in case https://www.walmart.com/ip/608300...e129083561

Bit the bullet and ordered. Purchased this same unit from Costco last week for $429 with the reassurance of returning it and the extra protection should it fail or I find a more competitive price. Viola.

Noticed this one includes a 1 year warranty offered from Midea directly. Purchased it with my CC that offers an extended warranty. In reading the prior comments from the link posted by @mja28, it seems this is a hit or miss when it comes to reliability. Anyone deal with a warranty experience after the return period expired?

I ordered this a few months ago and right out of the box it had an error code of EC54. Something about the compressor. Although I was within the return window of Walmart, I called Midea. They were terrible and refused to warranty it stating that it was a refurbished unit and therefore they would not warranty it. I ordered a second one and that one works fine. Russian roulette is correct. Do not plan on Midea offering any warranty.

I did not see the extended warranty plan when I bought it because usually it is on the product page. Looks like the link above might work but that is technically for units to start at $200 and this one is $199.

Oops, just bought a refurbished 12000 BTU before it went on sale. Does anyone know if Walmart or Midea does price adjustments? The heavy part of the unit I got looks fine. The window plate and associated hardware look dirty and scruffy. Have not found anything broken but have not tried to install yet either.

I believe they have this unit at costco. The rating is if it running for 720 hours . It would cost $68 assuming a .13 cents a kw eletricity rate.

Same here on the Russian Roulette. Got one back in May. From the start the swing motor would kind of get stuck at a certain angle then move back on its own to a smooth motion again. Then the compressor would make a loud "vibration" noise occasionally when cooling. I knew these were not normal as I have the same unit (bought new) that was a rebranded Toshiba from Woot that has been flawless for a few years. But I could live with these minor flaws for the price.

Then a few days ago, it started emitting this horrible "vinegar" like smell, could not get rid of it and was now worried this was possibly the refrigerant leaking. So boxed it all up and lugged the heavy 80 lb box back to Walmart...the employee hated having to reopen it to confirm the serial number but I've already been refunded in full.

Worst time for this to happen as it's been very hot the past few days, but I'm not willing to gamble on this twice, these are poorly refurbished and ended up buying a new Hisense dual hose tower from Costco instead.

You get what you pay for in this case. Keep ALL the packaging somewhere if you plan to take this gamble and it causes issues within the 90 day return period, you're probably gonna need it.

I'm stuck in this same nightmare right now. Bought the eBay refurb unit (seller is Midea) for $249 with the Allstate warranty, it had the EC54 code from the start. Midea won't cover it because I bought it from them on eBay. Allstate won't cover it because it's still under factory warranty. 🤦🏽 ♂️

That sucks. Midea proved themselves to be terrible in my coorespondence. I told them mine was refurbished on the first call, and after several calls/emails, they eventually said it was not warrantied.

In your case, there was another thread where someone reached out to eBay because Midea was unresponsive within the return window, and eBay refunded them back. Even if you are out of the return window, you might want to call eBay and ask them to refund you for the ac and Allstate warranty. You might have better luck with eBay than Midea and Allstate.

I bought one last month from Walmart. It came the next day and has been running since. It works really well blows icy cold air and has helped us get through the first half of the summer.

I know people are having failed units. I wonder if they are getting laid down in the delivery trucks and not sitting upright long enough after being delivered. That may not even be a thing anymore but I find it hard to believe they would ship something with a compressor fault significant enough for the computer to recognize it immediately.

Anyway if mine makes it through August be ok with it. Thinking about swapping to the midea u shaped window unit anyway.

One interesting thing was Walmarts return window was 90 days so you know there are people that use them all summer and return them. I think my return window closes sept 10th or so.

Anyway the unit is huge but works well it's reasonably quiet for what it is and how well it cools.

Ask me if you have any questions about it

About how much did that add it the electric bill?
