Yes; just went through the chat after referencing local stock at the nearest Micro Center (Miami has/had 11 in stock; ~45 miles away); they issued a refund after I placed the order.

Rather, I choose 2 Mac mini which is at 450 times 2. So I'll get 20 core CPU, 20 core GPU and 32 gb ram. What do you say?

How would you use them together?

I currently have a 16inch M2 pro 16GB/512GB, 65 cycle count and 98% battery. I will be able to get around 950 dollars from Apple Store as gift card which I can use to pay for apple services. I would like to purchase this Mac mini as a desktop option and a 15.3 inch M4 air or 14 inch M3pro/M4pro for portability. Do you think this is a good idea? My primary usage is lightweight coding and writing latex documents...sometimes I code in R or python which are high computing requirements...

This seems like a better deal than the base model for $450 and was able to price match BB. Thanks!

Sounds like you would replace one base model device with two near base models for not much of a win.Why so complicated? Just get one MacBook and spec it how you need itI have recently switched from 32g M1 Pro MacBook to maxed m4 max Mac Studio + base 15" air for portability but that makes at least some sense because studio + base air is still less than putting the same hardware into a single MacBook Pro

I'm not sure it's better than the base model at $450. You get 2 more cpu cores, 6 gpu/neural engine cores, 8gb ram and 256 more ssd space for 120% more cost.
Not saying this isn't a good price for this spec, but the base model @ $450 is tremendous value.

We can use it as a stack. People are already experimenting with this.

Probably better for those wanting to try local LLMs and not wanting to deal with the latency of trying to run 2 in parallel

Thank you for the reply. You are absolutely right. My logic was as follows: the two combined items will cost me around 2500 USD which is the cost of a 16inch MacBook M4 pro. With trade in, it will cost me around 1500 USD. M2 pro performs similar to M4 (at least this is what I have heard). I don't need a m4 max capable processing power for next 6-7 years or so...
