I have a nice chainsaw but I bought one of these mini chainsaws recently so I pulled it out and proceeded to chop the tree into moveable pieces and I was able to chop all except the 3 thicker bases of 3 branches and the main tree itself which I wouldn't even attempt. the base was about 20 inches around so not a huge tree but I was still impressed with how much I was able to get done with a little mini chainsaw. Different brand than offered here but They probably all come out of the same factory ! I was a little concerned about the chain coming off an taking my hand with it as well so I bought some chainsaw gloves to use with the mini chainsaw, well to use with any chainsaw as the tree was a bigger project than trimming the branches that I do every year along my mow line. https://www.amazon.com/Intra-FIT-...th=1&psc=1 I wore a face shield I had here too. I am retired military so PPE is drilled into me, I use safety goggles when I hammer a nail

I suppose I was stating the obvious, but even on slickdeals, in most cases you get what you pay for. You seem to acknowledge that this thing sucks I guess by stating it has very little torque, speed, etc., so if it can't hurt a person, it sure as hell can't cut through trees
Maybe blowing $30 on a cheap minichain saw will work out for a few people, but for most it will either break in two minutes or probably just sit on a shelf (speaking from experience
Waste of money. The chain came off within the first 2 minutes of use.

Extremely underpowered. Tried it first on a branch 1.5 inches thick, and all it did was nick the bark. Tried it on a thinner branch, and it chewed it a little but couldn't cut it. I've used chain saws for years, but I couldn't get this to work. Very disappointed.
The cheapest and mainly for smaller branches (probably suited for 1.5-2in diameter if doing a bunch) at $69: https://www.homedepot.c
The next step up at $99, quite a bit more powerful/versitile, using 18V Ryobi standard batteries: https://www.homedepot.c
The brushless version of the $99 one above, also an 8" bar, so can handle much bigger jobs for $149: https://www.homedepot.c
Then the fuel one for $200, I saw linemen in my neighborhood using these after a storm (along with big gas ones I didn't identify for the big stuff). When I am out doing clearing work... I want my tools to work, and work WELL, so I spent the extra cash over the Ryobi, where normally I go with the much cheaper but still capable Ryobi stuff if it can do a comparable job (and TBH I probably would have been more than fine with a Ryobi, but this Fuel option is a sweet little tool): https://www.homedepot.c
