Parenting fail. Considering the number of crappy drivers on the road, this is where she should be the most wary. She began to run? Really?

Driving fail. Jeez people suck at driving, but the mother is mostly to blame here.

Reporting fail. Red light cameras snap pictures. They aren't video cameras. (At least not the ones on the east coast. I can only assume it's the same on the west coast.)

American fail. She doesn't speak english????? She apparently can't read lights either b/c they don't change from green to red.

I can see why the driver says he didn't see them, there's that huge white truck blocking his view of them. Why would the mother even think about trying to continue crossing the street when the vehicles are clearly already moving? Did she have 10 seconds to live and the only antidote that could possibly save her was on the other side of the street? What could prompt that level of idiocy? Dontknow

Almost the same thing happened to me except it was a cyclist. Luckily I didn't hit him but scared both of us shit less.

I see things like this every day here. I know jaywalking is an way of life here and I do it too but if I am walking with a child, I will wait the extra 10 seconds.

I don't know but Chicago has both. When a buddy got a ticket in the mail once, it had the three pictures and a link for the video online.

She's possibly illegal. Yet they have US rights. They can sue, be sued, even for DUI, and then still get out of it AND with a 1-year-stay-in-the-country-for-free pass (I'm not sh*tting you, this happened here in San Diego). Puts a blemish and doubt on non-illegals.

If she's not illegal, then it IS an American fail. What happened to the years past of legal immigrants coming and learning the language and culture to become contributing members of the society they've asked to embrace them? Doesn't mean you have to give up your own language and culture, but just expand upon it.

That wasn't jaywalking. Jaywalking is crossing outside of the crosswalk, in between two intersections. This is crossing against the light.

I had some fools crossing with a stroller across a busy, busy street right in front of me the other day. Instead of trekking the half block to the stoplight and crosswalk, they decided to risk it all during rush hour by playing frogger with their kid in a stroller. Crazy

They had to run and barely made it before a rush of cars came through. Idiots!

Just watched the video. Srsly wtf? Was the SUV driver driving with their eyes closed?!? Blink

I mean, yeah the light changed and the mother is very wrong for attempting to cross. But this is also blatant inattentive driving too! How do you not see the group of people approaching the FRONT of your vehicle? It's not just reaction time, they didn't even slow down until long after impact.

When the light turns green, it means "proceed with caution" not "go". You look before you go, and the SUV was just starting out. If you're starting out near a "large profile vehicle" then you're looking around it as you're starting out.

Not to mention that the truck was almost at the speed limit as soon as the light turned green. Why the hurry to get to the next light?
