Weekly Summary:

Week 13 - Yardboy squeaks out a series win

I took an early pot against p lite with my J9 two-pair. Those middle cards were good for me tongiht - the hand that put me into the big stack position was a T9 and a flop of JQK. I slowplayed it, which darn near cost me when another J hit the turn. In the end, it held up and I knocked knlmwq down a notch or two. Turns out none of that would be too big a factor - in the end we were heads up.

That's of course after I knocked a couple out and collected a bounty on Sev. The whole time CCJ is in the background having gone out early early early early early giving everyone instructions for taking out me and the other dangers to her first-place spot.

Did I mention CCJ went out really early?

With three left, I flopped a flush and took a big chunk out of knlmwq when he (she?) kept betting a pair of 8's and I just called it to a check-call on the river. I caught a lucky big pair of ladies to take out dean_siu, and after that heads-up was uneventful. We jockeyed around for position until my QTd caught his (her?) Q8 and rubbed it in with a flush on the river.

I thought CCJ and I had it worked out that I didn't have enough to get there to win the Quarter 1 2008 series, but Rammy is the ruler and he says I did and I'm not gonna argue. CCJ is gonna be really pissed though. She hates the fact that I don't even fold laundry.

Week 11 (by Rammy)

Oops she did it again as BBrunick sucked out and played hidden monsters with equal skill amassing chips and knocking out opponents with the same ease she serves sandwiches, cold beer, and OTs to the men in her life. She won 9 of the last 10 hands against Rammy h2h, overcoming going all-in against her opponents pocket pair twice and even knocked out YardBoy for a bounty with her A10 vs AQ. ~290 hands in this marathon event, perhaps 85-90 heads up.

I believe the quote of the night was when Rammy said "You should all quit playing poker if I come in the money" (he was 2 for 11 at showdowns and under 1k chips left)

Week 10: (by Yardboy)

I came into tonight's tourney with one goal - gain .8 points on my bro-in-law A10Mechs to move ahead of him in the rankings. It's only fitting that I had to win the damned thing to finish ahead of him. Of course, it would have been hard to lose in my seat tonight - I have tire tracks on my back from the cards running me over. My first big banger came against Iconians when I flopped trips and turned a boat on the same card that gave him a flush. Didn't bust him out but at 160 he was severely crippled, and I came away with a solid stack in front of me. Exactly 10 hands later I flopped trip A's and once again turned a boat, got no callers for my turn raise and increased to 4,400.

Then came the Al Queda Massacre. I moved all-in against MChat with my AQ to his AT, he paired up and I didn't, and that boosted him to 2,300 chips. 5 hands later we get into it again, this time he had the AQ and I took a medium pot with 99. 2 hands after that I caught AQ yet again, re-raised him all-in pre-flop with his 88, and proceeded to turn a straight to beat him (and I rivered a flush, just to grind my boot in his ear and show him who's boss). My 5k or so bumped up to over 8k when I busted out MovieMogul's Q-crappy-kicker. Went a little card-cold for a while at this point, punctuated only by Rammy slow-playing himself into a losing hand, me busting bbrunick out, and conservatively playing my way through several good 1-2k pots and to a comfortable 11k stack with 4 players left.

Then came... The Hand. 100/200 with a 25 ante. Tripp raised to 600 pre-flop, A10 called and I did the same with 77. The flop came 74Q rainbow and I began quietly plotting how to extract the rest of Tripp's remaining 905 chips without scaring him off, simply smooth-calling his bet of 600 and executing a perfect check-raise on the turn, only to see myself dominated by an over-set of Q's. PokerStars then calmly asked Tripp if he wanted it in the head or in the gut... he chose gut and the case-7 popped on the river to give me the one-outer win and a 14k stack. One of, if not the worst bad-beat ever and worthy of a prize.

I bounced Arj a few hands later with an ATs, leaving me heads up and almost 2-to-1 stacked with none other than my bro. Worried? Fark no. A weak play on my part allowed him in the door to even it up, but I knocked out one 25% leg of his table with a beautiful (if I do say so myself) 72 off-suit bluff, and then took the rest of his stack with A5 after he and I flopped top and middle pair, respectively. Gee that was fun - mission accomplished.

Week 9 write up by Mavtech
My night started out that I wasn't even going to play since Tuesday was our 3 year wedding anniversary. But, the wife gave me the go ahead with no strings attached (I think). Then, I had to get my brother (RL007) to front me $2.22 to complete the $5.50 buy in. For some reason, every time my account gets down near zero, I come in the money to play for a few more weeks. I haven't funded my poker account in 5-6 months. I was at the bottom of the chip list for more than half the night. I hovered around $1,000 chips for quite a while. I kept getting crap that hit the flop and good cards that didn't. I was obviously a little discouraged. So, I said "screw it" and pushed all in with A2 versus bbrunick's QQ. I rivered (ahem...Riverstars), an Ace to double up. Then, I got pocket 5s and hit quads but had not callers. Soon after that, I flopped a straight a couple times. One of these was to take a decent amount of chips from my brother. Then, when wuzzy wuz pushing all in, I wuz holding the 4th 8. So, he wuz all done for the night. Another time I thought I was all done was when I pushed all in with A7 suited and was called by CCJ with AQ. Well, I was lucky when the board double paired (Is that what you call it?) which ended up a split pot. From that point on, Pokerstars decided that they wanted me to get up to the top with the chip leaders. When CCJ and I went headsup, we were even most of the time through 50 hands or so. We both were tired. So, we split. We agreed to go all in no matter what. The very next hand gave me 94os and her AK. I didn't even pay attention. I assumed she won. I rivered a straight. So, I looked like a retard when I told her she owes me $7.50 tomorrow. Anyway, maybe I need to play that $hit more often.

Week 8: [i]summary by RL007
This week started out the usual way for me. I was getting no hands early on and other people seemed to be getting the cards. I think what most people would consider the hand of the night happened pretty early on where Bobbyfk went ballistic with A9 losing to AQ and was given a final warning to clear up his act or be banned. After that I didn't really notice anything off the wall until my hand against iconian. I was OTB with about 1600 and blinds at 100/200. It folded to me and I raised to 700 with ATd. Iconian re-raised all in. I only had 910 left so I really had no choice. Well, my T came on the turn which then started my run of cards. I proceeded to get AA twice, JJ 3 or 4 times and AK at least 4 times. I didn't get much action on any of them though. I thought heads up was going to be over in 1 hand when smokeymoats pushed right away. I looked down at 55 and had a severe chip disadvantage. I called and smokeymoats 33 did not improve. We only played about 45 hands heads up and it ended when my QJd flopped a Q on smokeymoats 55 when we were all in pre flop.

Week 6 summary by a10mechs

Here goes first poker is 90% skill (less for bobby) 10% luck (unless playing on PS) had the full 10% on my side final three. Started the night with PS throwing the deck at me early Pocket A's 4 times, but sadly no one to play with. Still won enough to sit back play tight and watch bobby show every hand that he pushed with (entertaining) or rivering with 3 in a row (sickening). Anyway one with the final 3 RL with his usual bad luck pushes with JJ from the small blind I call with A8 from the bb (still simmering from bobbys flopped boat earlier), this is where the luck changes and I catch an A on the river. Now HU with Wuzzy having 3 to 1 chip lead, he lets me take the first few blinds w/ no calls. Then he pushes me all in w/ 66, I'm thinking he's just tired of SS pushing him around so I call w/ 65 (too much Tequilia). Flop is 10,8,A turn is 8...I say GG...river A...lol...split pot. Went back to being aggressive again taking blinds, again Wuzzy pushes this time w/ A6, again im thinking he's tired of me taking the blinds (again no reason to think this, didnt notice him bluffing any all night) call with K7 flop comes J,3,7(bingo) turn 10, river K (for good measure). Now after trading chip leads back and forth for about 30 min's, Have A9 in BB, Wuzzy raises w/ minium raise...me being the poker pro just call here (dumb) flop comes Q,10,5 we both check turn is 6, I check, wuzzy pushes all in, I call (dumber) wuzzy shows pocket 3's... river is A. Just show's doesnt take a bright man to win, just luck (still hope for you bobby) but I will take it.

Week 5 summary by vec
Dvu all over again...Once again I found myself in the money with a sizable chip advantage but this time it was only 2 times that of second place. I didn't have the luxury that I had last week but luckily goatroper and MChat didn't wait that long to go after each other. With them going all-in as quickly as they did, I didn't have to be worried about the large blinds bringing my chip stack down to their level with the crap cards that I have been getting. Goatroper did knock out MChat with that all-in but it also leveled the playing field giving both of us just over 15,000 chips. The last hand had a modest raise and call and the flop came up QKx giving me a pair of queens. Attempting to take the pot down, I made a bet with my queens but goatroper immediately raised me. The only choices left to me were to go all-in and attempt to take back the advantage or to fold to the raise. I did go all-in an but goatroper's call left me behind a pair of kings with my queens. Not much of the race that I was expecting but the river paired my 10 kicker giving me the win. Not the convincing win that I had last week but still a win.

Week 4 summary by vec

My special guest appearance ended with a substantial lead going into the final four players. At that point, I made my lone mistake for the night. Thinking that Shoagie was trying to buy the blinds, I called his all-in with my KJ against his KK. That pretty much leveled the playing field in terms of chips and everyone tightened up, except for Iconian. He had a nice blow-up that put the rest of us into the money. Luckily, I was being dealt cards that are considered half-way decent at a three handed table so I kept challenging Shill and Shoagie but they never went after the bait. With all of those challenges I was able to build back up my chip stack to the point where I was before my bad call, 4 times ahead of the both of them. Now just sit back and pick up whatever betting habits I could while watching them battle each other and jump in every once in a while to remind them that I was still there. The first big hit was Shoagie and I was able to enact revenge on my earlier slip up and knock him out with my 88 against his 77. We both got the spade flush from our cards but my 8 beat his 7. Then came the head's up match between Shill and myself. I folded numerous times to his raises just waiting for what I thought was the right times to attack. That time came with my A7 against his K7. The rest is history. It was nice to be available to play in the game. Hopefully, I will be in another one soon!

Week 3 summary by moviemogul
My first week ever playing, and I get to write one of these. The night started off pretty nice with me grabbing a few hands and gaining some chips. I had an all in moment with $800 in chips that was pretty tense with a hand that I can't remember. I doubled up and it was all uphill from there. Within a while, I found myself on the final table.
After a few hands and bbrunick getting knocked out by iconian in a great hand where he got a pair of 7's against her pair of 5's, it was myself, iconian, and Mavtech. In an exciting hand, I had pocket sevens and called iconians all in bet with him having Ace Queen suited and knocked him out with 2 pair Jacks & sevens.
Then there was a bunch of fold's and calls with myself and Mavtech until this hand that had me close to going on tilt. I had 4,5 suited against Mav's A, Q. Mav goes all-in and I call. He knocked half my chips out with a pair of Queens. Then we had more folding and calling until the elusive final hand where I had 6,3 off suit against Mav's pocket draws (4's). It was mostly checking until the river where Mav picked up his trips and went all in. What he didn't realize was that the river gave me a six high straight to clench the win!

Week 2: (Written by Iconian)

Where do i start? Here: go read the hands Shuriken posted and judge for yourself. Can we say luckbox????. Tonight was pretty interesting in the way that anil decided to grace us with his presense and only was 2nd out instead of his usual 1st. Some of the hands were interesting, for example: i flopped of a set 7's againts mav, but flop showed kt7(2 clubs), he bet, i called (no clue why i didnt reraise/push). turn was jack clubs he bet again and i called (wtf is wrong with me??, and river was queen hearts, he pushed. i thought for second and folded. mav showed KT (sigh@me). But since i am writing this, it was the right play. I dont remember many other notable hands except shuriken dunking off with aj versus ak, t9 versus at and q9 versus kt/kk (all were all in preflop). In the end, when it was CCJ/Shur and me, i was down to 3k chips while shuriken had 17k and ccj stayed at 5-6k. I caught few aj's and at's and low pairs, pushed enough times to scare them off and got to about 7k chips. Then when i got qj spades, shuriken raised preflop, i called, flop was qxx, i pushed and he called(or other way around?) i doubled up there. Within a few hands i raised with a7 and CCJ called with a4? and i took her out (she had no choice). Heads up was quick. We traded some jabs and i got a5, shuriken raised, i called flop was a8x, he pushed i called, he showed queens. i survived! Key play of the match: When it was 7 of us left and i was a low stack and no good hands were coming, on my BB i got k5, flopped top pair and managed to double off Shuriken.

Week 1: (written by CCJ)
FINALLY! I get to write one of these bad boys! The night started off on a great note for me and never looked down. From making the right calls to pushing at the right time, I just all around kicked ass. (OP note: Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) ) My climb to the top definitely started after taking out GiantPeach, on a hand I should remember better than I do, and shortly thereafter calling Tripp's raise on pocket 3's (which were very hot this week) and flopping a set. He seemed to think his Overpair (Queens) May have been good, but alas, the river brought me a boat that Tripp sailed away on. Rammy couldn't catch any luck as his BS raises on A-rag were reraised and he was forced to lay them down. RL007 was screwed early on as usual.

I was dominant for the rest of the tournament, not venturing from chip lead, and my skillful play won me the tournament. (OP note: :gags on fist:)

Look out guys. 2008 is the year of the cat!

How Points are Awarded:

This spreadsheet uses the PokerStars TLB ranking formula. I've modified it to give points to every player that plays each week, not just the top 15%. That rewards participation more than average finish. It therefore encourages folks to show up every week and have a good time.

The formula used to determine the total points awarded to a player for any given tournament is:

Points = 10 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)] * [1+log(b+0.25)]

Where:
n is the number of entrants
k is the place of finish (k=1 for the first-place finisher, and so on)
b is the buy-in amount in dollars (excluding PS administrative fee).

We've all been rick-rolled. HA!

Icon - just so you realize, I scaled it back for this year a bit - it's now the Cleaning Kit combo [shwamee.com], not the bigger package I've sent in the past. Just giving you a heads up since you've received two of the other stacks. Don't want you to be :wtf?: disappointed.

Icon - just so you realize, I scaled it back for this year a bit - it's now the Cleaning Kit combo [shwamee.com], not the bigger package I've sent in the past. Just giving you a heads up since you've received two of the other stacks. Don't want you to be :wtf?: disappointed.
haha
