Good deals at a store closing sale? LMAOLMAO Seriously?

The best deals at store closing sales are during the last day of business or more specifically the last hour or two the store is open for. But by then most of the sucke....errrrr..I mean customers have bought up anything of real value and all you're left with are the crumbs from their feeding frenzy of stupidity.

I went to closing sales in the early 2000's(talking 03-04 here) and even on the last day it seemed like they couldn't give away all the leftover stock. But now people gobble this shit up at 10-20% off. What's worse is they won't raise the percentages off while these morons are buying shit at such outrageous prices. Why would they when they could make more money off these shleps who think 10-30% off is a 'good deal'?

Unless the entire chain is closing, store closings usually result in the "good" stuff being moved to other stores and all the shit that has 2" of dust on it from being on the racks for years is all that's left. Heck, even if an entire chain is going bust, sometimes they will wholesale lot entire stores and just leave crap.

I've seen several stores do tiered discounts - e.g. day 1 is 10% off, day 2 is 20%, etc etc all the way until 80-90% off before the place closes. It's a good incentive for people to go buy what they want sooner, actually.

I keep forgetting to check the one near me.

With the ability to compare prices on your phone, why would you not check out a store closing sale? Especially on sporting equipment. Check Amazon - if it's cheaper and in front of you, buy it. If not, don't. You can get some gems that way. I got great deals when Circuit City went out of business doing just that.

I've always found SA to be ridiculously priced. Their 'sales' are what you would find at normal Amazon prices...Here's The List Of Sports Authority Stores That Are Closing [consumerist.com]

Yes it is. The announcement was made a couple days ago. They first announced something like a third of stores closing and had a plan to restructure but couldn't get their debtors on board so they abandoned it and opted for full liquidation of every store.
