I just received my 2 today. They were each in a small box wrapped in bubble wrap. Those 2 small boxes were in a big one with paper for cushioning, I am about to start running tests on them now.

Sounds like that is the standard packaging that WD uses. I received that packaging style all the time from Amazon and any RMAs from WD.
