Tung Oil is beautiful stuff Tung Oil is fantastic stuff. Like masked marvel said though, read up on it to make sure you get the 100% stuff, not the "tung oil finish"...although the non-100% stuff...

Ditto. I used an Ikea beech top for a desk, three coats of Tung oil and it is gorgeous. I get lots of compliments.

definitely sand before coating, however sanding isn't required as it comes from IKEA pretty smooth as is..its a personal preference thing. We didn't sand our old kitchen. If you sand the best route...

aren't they awesome? I love the warmth they add to a space and they are really the best option for a kitchen on a budget (the other cheap options being laminate, tiling, and in some cases concrete)....
