Yeah mine was the same way with the 2 different sizes. Still was not tight enough on my sierra. Wedging tape in there worked though.

On mine there are four slits where it attaches to the vent. One pair is larger than the other. Of this one is the same, rotating it 90 degrees may solve the problem.
