Hello! Looking for recommendations. I have the recent skickdeal for a dell i7 on the way but am wondering if this i5 Lenovo is a better deal? Faster processor vs 1080p and different graphics cards....

Activate it first, then the license will be linked to your laptop. You can replace RAM and HDD and reinstall Windows 10 without problem.

I have a 256 GB SSD. If I were to install that to replace the 1 TB HD, would I have difficulty reinstalling W10 because the license is hardware-dependent?

This will meet your needs, but is overkill. Chromebook's an idea, but even a decent laptop for basic needs will run less than $400. SD is a good place to research.

Please don't choose a 5400rpm and 1TB drive, you will be cursed to death.
Had a i7 quad HQ machine and sucked a lot due to the 5400rpm drive. Just need to throw them away.

I'm looking for a laptop for the family to use with $500 being about Max budget. Just need it for basic computing web surfing and multimedia needs. Should I jump on this or wait?
