$750 ($50 price discount in store now) i heard some bad things about the kitchen aid from the reviews that made it sound like they slapped the brand name on a grill in hopes of people buying it. ...

I have a Weber Summit grill. It uses a thick gauge 430 stainless, but has held together very well. I have seen the 304 stainless grill at costco and I agree with you that it appears to be a very...

check out the costco 304 stainless steel they sell online and in store. i think its the "best bang for the buck" when you take into account a grill that you'd keep for 5-10 yrs. frankly, the...

Ha, sweet. So now I may have to get one that I can replace at least one SS rack with a cast one. Then again I do have some nice cast grating so maybe just put a piece over the SS part and use it to...

Yes, that is why they add the sear burners, they work well enough but still do not work nearly as well as a hot piece of cast. I have a sear station on my weber, it is actually what I put my cast...

Yes that does sound good. I'm guessing the lack of heat retention on stainless is the reason for the "sear burners" on the stainless grills?

I also cant stand using coated cast, but majority of people are not willing to go through the effort of oiling and seasoning uncoasted cast. Most people just want to turn on the grill and cook. ...

Interesting. I guess having used cast iron grates all my life I might prefer that. I do not like the enamel coated cast. I'll have to wait on an opinion for the stainless if I can find something.

The reason that people prefer SS grates over coated cast iron, is that the porcelain coating will crack and chip away over time and can transfer to your food when you grill. If it is uncoated, then...

I pretty much agree with all that. I also wonder if the stainless grates are really better than the cast grates for the cooking part.... I'm just trying to find something decent overall. it...

The one at BJ'S actually did have a side burner. It's less storage which isn't a deal breaker I don't think. It also felt pretty decent weight wise. I'm thinking it's likely the best bang for the...

There are cheap stainless steel grills, but it is guaranteed they use a very thin cheap 430 stainless. Easiest way to tell is check with a magnet. Cheap 430 stainless has a high iron content and...

You are not going to find a grill with 304 stainless flame box and grates for $300. You saying "dont buy this because it has non-stainless grates" is the exact same thing as saying "spend 3 times...
