GSM flip phones most certainly do use SIM cards. You need a GSM phone, either T-Mobile branded or unlocked.

cs rep I spoke with said that you had to get sim card from retail ultra store and once you have it you can dial 611 and have cs rep change your plan

Calls between FreedomPop users are free and doesn't count towards the 500 mins per month limit. Family with 4 FreedomPop accounts get 500Mb - 100Mb (which would trigger top-up) + 3 x 50Mb = 550Mb...

I got mine from ebay for $1. I haven't received them but I saw somewhere in the FAQs stating the regular Ultra Mobile (purple colored) sim will work for the flex plan.

MintSim definitely has WiFi calling, but only for certain phones. I tried the service and the WiFi calling worked great.
