Farpoint 55 S/M (sizing is for your torso) works fine for a carry-on. I detach the daypack and put it under my seat so it's easily accessible, but I think it's a fine size even with the daypack...

I never had it weighed. I did ensure it was under weight before flying though. I also had to take the day pack and shove it in the main compartment to make the bag look smaller.
