This is not just water leak, this unit does automatic evaporation as well, the hose emits really hot air, and that has to be sent out of your house through a window in order to keep the room cool....

An evap cooler won't solve your heating problem. It works best when the climate is on the dry side. IIRC, it gets hot and humid in NY during the summers.
