You don't need a modem that supports telephony with OOMA. Any old cable modem (as long as it's compatible with your service) will work.

If you use a VOIP like OOMA, do you need a modem that includes telephony? I have frontier now with OOMA, but you technically don't rent their modems so there was never an incentive to buy one. I...

I'm currently using it for 150mbps xfinity plan, works fine, no problems with it for last 2+ years. Just remember if you use a router to make sure it supports 100mbps too

Just by the numbers alone, yes. This modem has 8 channels vs the cm500 @ 16. But only matters if you are doing 100+ mbs

Yeah, it will support those speed tiers. If you have problem activating the modem over the phone visit the local Comcast store and have them add it to your account.

FYI... I wasn't comfortable with this modem because of it being EOL and all the reviews indicating connectivity problems, although I do need to pick up an 8x4 modem to eliminate the monthly equipment...

People are dissuaded from that since the carrier charges them for equipment that isn't returned. I have gotten about 10 modems at thrift stores. I have never gotten one that either didn't work or was...

Yes, as long as you don't have voice. Any 3.0 modem will work. 8 channels is enough for 100 down or lower, consider getting 12 or 16 if you have higher speeds. I have the 100 down plan and bought...

Take it back. A lot of thrift stores, like Goodwill, have return policies.

I wouldn't expect Comcast to suddenly stop supporting Docsis 3.0 modems that are already activated on their system anytime in the next several years. In fact I was using an old ass Arris 4x4 modem...

At 25Mbps 16x4 vs 8x4 will not matter at all bandwidth-wise. The basic idea is, the more channels, the more total data bandwidth is possible. Also there is a little bit of future-proofing with more...
