I agree with the comment above about timberwolf blades. I got their 3 pack (1/4, 3/8, and 1/2" if memory serves) and love them. I have the 12" version of this saw that I'm not sure they sell anymore....

So nice to see a woodworking machine make the front page! I have this saw (the one with the cabinet base). I think it's a very good 14" saw and if you're on the fence you should go with it. ...

I just picked mine up this evening and put it together. It's certainly not perfect but without spending probably $200+ more, you're probably not going to get much better from a new saw. I can...

My dad has this saw. Yes it's tall and can resaw well, but the base is REALLY hard to get to stay level and perpendicular to the blade. I had to readjust it every time I wanted to use it. I also...

I took two measurements and I hope they work for you. I measured the base of the saw, not the stand, which for the most part the saw sits inside. The base was approximately 14" wide and 19.25"...

Would you happen to be able to get measurements of the body (not the stand) from front to back depth (saw itself not including stand and table) and from left to right side end of the motor. Trying...

This is a great bandsaw. I have a different version of it. If anyone buys this bandsaw, be prepared to swap out the guide bearings soon. I had to do it after 10 minutes of use. It's an easy...

Yep. 8" resaw capacity is adequate for "rescuing" some nice logs destined for firewood. Every time I see a "Free firewood" post on craigslist - a black walnut tree felled and cut to 2' logs it kills...

I did! Great video! I couldn't get the bottom wheel to track well without hitting the guide bearing at the back. There's a long amazon review that talks about setup difficulties. The vid you linked...

I've almost lost my fingers a few time with my table saw. I use push sticks now for everything. Matthias Wandel did some resawing not that long ago on a tree he cut down...but his homemade bandsaw...

For those curious - the reviews over at Lumberjock seem to be quite positive overall for this saw: http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/product/3179 Main bullet point for me is the 8" resaw capacity....

if anyone has this, I'm curious about dimensions of the saw itself (not stand) not including the table, depth from front of case to back, and left side of case to end of the motor on the other side,...

My memory of a woodmagazine review, left me with the impression the g0555 is much more of a saw, balanced cast iron wheels, quick tension release....it just looked beefier all around. This saw...

It's not just the blade. You need several modifications, including a gear reducer, brushes that get all the chips off before the blade returns to the wheels, and you might need to stiffen the frame...

This is for the 580. 555 is a bit pricier but IMHO worth the difference https://www.grizzly.com/products/14-Bandsaw-3-4-HP/G0580?utm_campaign=zPage&utm_source=grizzly.com

Agree...this is a great price! I just bought the 10" (which is the highly regarded Rikon but with a craftsman badge) and I'm seriously contemplating returning it for this. A 14" is a great deal...
