Change the "auto motion plus" menu setting from "auto" to "custom" and select 3 or 4. The lower the value the less soap opera effect (live tv look).

Thanks for letting me know about the rtings. I have the Samsung for pickup on Sunday but may cancel it so I can get the TCL. Using the side by side tool on rtings makes the TCL look so much better....
