I read somewhere that the inner lid is supposed to heat it up faster. just try putting a lid on your Tupperware and push it down tight it'll definitely pop open from the intense pressure.

I'm reaching the same conclusion. That inner lid serves no purpose during heating if it just pops up anyway. Better to not ruin it. (However, I believe the manual does say to use both lids.)

I find that leaving the inner lid on while the lunch crock is on warps the lid, therefore making the seal less tight. So I usually remove he inner lid and put the outer lid back on when the lunch...
