They accept amex online at Costco.com but you'd only get 1%cb. The online trick is most useful for Discover quarterly 5% whenever warehouse is included and you buy a cash card.

Maxing out the 6k a year is easy, you buy gift cards from the grocery store and use it for other purchases, which basically gives you 6% on everything
