I mounted my circular (1.25 inch) magnetic pad on the note 8 case at the very bottom of the case and it holds onto the dash mount perfectly.

Got mine too. Good quality and comes with the round and square metal plates along withe spare double sided tape. Pretty much identical to the ones I've been using for 4+ years minus the vent mount.

Metal direct on the phone is fine. It's when the metal is on the case. The edges on the metal regardless of plastic film will eventually scratch into my phone.

Unless you plan on rubbing the magnet mount itself on the screen of the phone, it should be safe.

Been using magnetic phone holder for years without issue, and all my phones as of late have had wireless charging as well. I simply position the metal plate below the charging coil.

I know some phones with wireless charging will work on these magnetic mounts without even using the metal plate because of the metal induction coil. Worked fine with my Galaxy S4.
