You must have been unlucky, I was able to get a stable overclock to 3.9 with a .1 increase to voltage on a standard 1600. Was also able to hit 4ghz with a .15 increase.

Went through a similar upgrade myself just recently (3570-k). Depending on your videocard its not a "massive" upgrade in average FPS (I'm on a 1080ti) but I've seen a big improvement on frame spikes...

Your suspicion is correct. The Ryzen 1600x does not include onboard video processing. You cannot get video out from this mobo unless you run a different processor, specifically an AM4 compatible...

There is no IPG on Ryzen. You will only get video from this board if you use one of those slow APU chips.

What is your 4690K clock speed? If your 4690K is 4.0GHz or above this Ryzen will not improve your FPS and might decrease it.

You cannot "clock" the crap out of Ryzen. The voltage/heat wall beyond 3.7/3.8GHz is crazy. With Intel, you can up voltage a bit and push clock a bit. With Ryzen, An extra 100MHz beyond 3.7/3.8GHz...
